

Youkyoung Kim
Youkyoung Kim, born in Busan, South Korea, began her piano studies at the age of five. Upon her graduation in 2005 from Sunhwa Arts High School in South Korea Ms. Kim enrolled at Seoul National University, completing requirements for her bachelor of music degree in 2010, where she studied with Junghye Ra and Nayoung Kim. Since 2012 She has been studying with Professor Awadagin Pratt at College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati where she received her master of music degree in 2014, and continues her doctoral studies.
Recently, she won the Gold Medalist Prize along with the Audience Favorite prize in the professional category of the 6th Seattle International Piano Competition. Ms. Kim has numerous top prizes and participated in international competitions including the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Piano Concerto Competition, United States International Duo Piano Competition, World Piano Competition, Dallas International Piano Competition, Debut International Piano Competition, and Delia Steinberg International Piano Competition in Madrid, Spain. Prior to her studies in the US, Ms. Kim has received numerous prizes and awards in her native Korea, including First Prizes at the Korea Chopin Competition and the Eumyoun Competition, Second Prizes at the Samick-Seiler Piano Competition, the International Piano Magazine Competition of Korea and Eumag Chunchu Magazine Competition, and Third Prize at the Suri National Music Competition.
Ms. Kim has participated in festivals, including Pianofest in the Hamptons, Art of the Piano at CCM, the Seoul National University International Piano Academy, and the International Summer Music Festival in Cleve, Germany. Ms. Kim has had an abundance of performing experiences and has given many recitals as a soloist and a collaborative artist throughout several venues in South Korea, Germany, and the United States, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Benaroya Hall, Seoul National University College of Music Concert Hall, Youngsan Art Hall in Seoul, Robert J. Werner Hall, Watson Hall, Cohen Family Studio Theater, Britton Recital Hall and Corbett Auditorium. As the winner of the College-Conservatory of Music Piano Concerto Competition, she performed Mozart’s D Minor Piano Concerto with the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra in 2013. Ms. Kim has taken part in master classes given by musicians such as Menahem Pressler, Leon Fleisher, Boris Slutsky, Choong Mo Kang, Wha Kyung Byun, Alexander Korsantia, Yoshikazu Nagai, Enrico Elisi, Hee Sung Joo.
